Coming from Yorkshire, the band release their debut 'As Nature Intended'. Influences include Beck, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, Beatles...you can't go wrong really.
Normally i wouldn't tend to listen to music like this, but there is alot of good stuff in here, really.
Some of the tracks sound abit the same to me, and get abit dull at points, well, dull is abit of a mean word to use, but you get the idea. It isn't too much my kind of thing, so i don't really have an ear for it you know.
I was recommened to listen to tracks 1 and 9, so sure enough, they were the first ones i tried. This is more of the thing that appeals to me. More rocky, more of a catchy tune. Give me a good bit of distortion anyday. If you get this, and are not too keen on what you're hearing, skip to track 9 and see if that does anything for you.
There are some great riffs and solos in here. The picking riff to track one 'stars and guitars' and the vocals remind me of Radiohead. Then when the rest of the song kicks in, it's got a real catchy feel to it.
Same kind of thing with track 7, 'Firefly'. A good acoustic picking riff at the beginning, with some soft vocals coming in over the top. The next track 'Canned air' i'm liking too. It has a funky acid jazz feel to it. It's definitely a head-nodder.
This may not appeal to some, but i definitely like it. I purhaps wouldn't pick it out from my collection and play it, but when i do listen to it, i do enjoy it. Worth a try if you're into the stuff i've said earlier on. If you live around yorkshire then check 'um out, but chances are, if you do live there, you would have already heard of them.
